Sockets for Prototyping with Actel FPGAs


Actel offers a range of surface-mount sockets to make it easier for designers to prototype their designs using Actel's one-time-programmable FPGAs.

These sockets are available in small quantities from Actel - just contact your local Actel representative or distributor for pricing and availability information. If you need quantities of 25 pieces or more, please contact your local vendor's representative or distributor. (For more information, see below)

Note: If an existing board layout does not have the alignment pin hole, the new SY-PQ and SY-VQ sockets can still be used by breaking off the alignment pins.

Recommended method of attaching sockets to PCB:

For all QFP sockets:
  1. Socket manufacturers highly recommend using solder reflow to solder socket to PCB (do not use manual hand soldering because it is difficult to hand solder high pin count sockets). Refer to drawing for alignment pin location and PCB mounting pad layout dimension (from EIA Standard Board Layout - Table 2) for each package before finalizing board layout.
  2. For VPS (Vapor Phase Soldering): 220°C at 60 seconds maximum.
  3. Infrared Reflow: 200°C - 250°C at 60 seconds maximum.
  4. Hand soldering: 360°C at 4 seconds maximum.
