Saving a PROM File

To save a PROM file:

  1. Select File Save.

If this is the first time you are saving the PROM file, the Save As dialog box appears, as shown in the following figure.

  2. Complete this dialog box and click OK to save the PROM files and the PROM description file.

This is a standard file selection dialog box. For a description of the fields in the dialog box, refer to the documentation and online help for the applicable windowing system.

If the properties currently set in the PROM File Formatter specify a PROM type smaller than necessary to hold the PROM data, the PROM File Formatter posts the dialog box shown in the “Invalid PROM Size Dialog Box” figure. The dialog box prompts you to perform one of these actions.

If you have chosen a PROM format that does not support the size of your PROM file, the PROM File Formatter posts the dialog box shown in the “Invalid Stream Layout Dialog Box” figure. The dialog box prompts you to perform one of these actions.

In some cases, you may want to save only the PROM description file, without saving the related PROM files. For example, you may want to save just the PROM description file if the data in the PROM File Formatter is incomplete, and you want to ensure that no PROM files are saved, since they might be confused with completed PROM files. To save just the PROM description file, select File Save Description instead of File Save.
