The PROM File Formatter has four menus, which are described in the following sections.
The File menu contains commands to create, open, save, split, and set properties for PROM File Formatter files. Following are the File menu commands and a brief explanation of each.
| New | Clears the data from the PROM File Formatter window and creates a new, empty PROM file. |
| Open | Displays a dialog box that allows you to open an existing PROM file. |
| Save | Saves the current PROM file and PROM description file. |
| Save As | Displays a dialog box that allows you to save the current PROM file and PROM description file with a file name and a location you specify. |
| Save Description | Saves the current PROM description (PDR) file. |
| Save Description As | Displays a dialog box that allows you save the current PROM description (PDR) file with a file name and a location you specify. |
| Split PROM | Displays the Split PROM Wizard, which allows you to split the current PROM file into multiple files. |
| PROM Properties | Displays the PROM Properties dialog box, which allows you to set properties for the file displayed in the PROM File Formatter window. |
| Recent Files | Displays the names of the last four PROM description files opened in the PROM File Formatter. |
| Exit | Exits the PROM File Formatter program. |
The edit menu contains commands to build and edit the information in the PROM description area. The following are the Edit menu commands and a brief explanation of each.
| Undo | Reverses the last action performed. |
| Redo | Redoes the last action that was undone. |
| Cut | Removes selected items from the PROM description area and temporarily stores them in the clipboard. |
| Copy | Copies selected items from the PROM description area and temporarily stores them in the clipboard. |
| Paste | Inserts the clipboard contents into the PROM description area. |
| Move Up | Moves the item selected in the PROM description area closer to the start of the PROM. |
| Move Down | Moves the item selected in the PROM description area closer to the end of the PROM. |
| Add Data Stream | Adds a new data stream in the PROM description area. |
| Add Bit File | Inserts the BIT file selected in the file selection area into the PROM description area. |
The View menu includes commands to display special screen areas and to modify the appearance of the information displayed within the PROM File Formatter window. Following are the View menu commands and a brief explanation of each.
| Toolbar | Toggles the toolbar on or off. |
| Status Bar | Toggles the status bar on or off. |
| Show File Paths | Displays the BIT files in the PROM description area with their full path names. |
| Collapse All Streams | Collapses the hierarchical display in the PROM description area, leaving a display of data streams without BIT files. |
| Expand All Streams | Expands the hierarchical display in the PROM description area to show all data streams and all BIT files. |
| Design Directory | Returns the display in the file selection area to the display appearing when the PROM File Formatter was started or when you last opened up a PDR file within the PROM File Formatter. |
| Move Splitter | Places the cursor on the splitter bar, allowing you to change the relative sizes of the PROM description area and the file selection area. |
The Help menu contains commands that enable you to access online help for the PROM File Formatter. Following are the Help menu commands and a brief explanation of each.
