Blackjack Machine Operation
To operate the machine, insert the dealer’s card into the card reader. The machine reads the value and, in the case of
later card draws, adds it to the values of the previously read cards for that
hand. Face cards are worth 10 points, non-face cards are worth their face value,
and aces are worth either 1 or 11 (whichever yields the best hand). If the
point total is 16 or less, the GT16 line is asserted and the HIT LED lights up;
this indicates the dealer should draw another card. If the point total is greater
than 16 but less than 22, no LEDs light up, indicating that the dealer should
not draw any more cards. If the point total is 22 or higher, the LT22 line is
asserted and the BUST LED lights, indicating that the dealer lost the hand.
